Unwins Kitchen Garden Herb Kit

Place the coir compost discs in a shallow tray of warm water. Wait 10 minutes and the discs will expend to their full size. If they seen too dry, add a little more water. Once expanded, gently break up the coir compost. Pour compost into pots until they are nearly full. Lightly firm down the compost with the base of another pot. Sow 10-20 seeds of each variety onto the surface of each pot and lightly cover with 1/2 cm of compost. Place the pots into the wooden trough, then cover with a sealed clear plastic bag or cling film to retain humidity. You should not need to water again until after germination. Position the trough on a warm, well-lit surface, such as a windowsill. Check periodically to ensure the compost remains moist. Once seedlings appear, remove the covering and keep in a warm environment (15-20°C). Maintain moisture without overwatering. Allow approximately two weeks for germination.

Once the plant has 5-6 leaves, you can start harvesting by picking or snipping leaves as required. Allow the leaves to regrow from the main stem giving you a continuous supply of fresh herbs. Store any spare seeds in a cool dry place for future sowings.
