Tips & Advice:
Sowing Indoors
Soil should be well-dug, stone-free and not recently manured. Sow seeds fairly thinly in pre-watered shallow rows, covering with a little soil. Delay early sowings if soil is very wet or cold; later sowings will make up any lost time.
Thinning
As seedlings develop, thin them gradually, eventually to about 15cm apart. Keep soil moist until seedlings are established.
Advice
Roots can be left in the ground until required. Autumn frost improves flavour. Parsnip seed should be used in the year of opening the packet. Allow up to 3 weeks to germinate. Do not sow indoors as parsnip seedlings don't transplant well.
