Sowing Outdoors
Sow seeds thinly in a shallow pre-watered row. Lightly cover seeds with a little soil. Keep soil moist as dry conditions impair germination. Thin seedlings to 30cm apart to allow them to develop.
Aftercare
Water plants generously in dry weather as dry conditions will make the radishes tougher. Protect under cloches in autumn if necessary to extend the harvest period. Mature roots will be hotter, with most of the heat in the skin, so peel if preferred.
Advice
Small sowings made every three weeks during the summer should ensure a continuous supply. Pick roots while small and young. Harvest regularly to avoid a woody texture.
