Tips & Advice:
Sowing Indoors
Almost fill a seed tray with moist seed compost. Sow seeds thinly over the surface, and lightly cover them with a little more compost. Place in the warmth, 10-15°C and keep moist.
Growing On
Keep seedlings in a light position, but shade from direct sunlight. When large enough to handle, transplant 5cm apart into trays of potting compost. Alternatively transplant individually to 8cm pots of potting compost.
Hardening Off / Planting Out
Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions for 2-3 weeks before planting out when danger of frost has passed. Allow 60cm between plants.
Aftercare
Plants may require some support with stakes. Remove flower spikes before they set seed; this may encourage a second flush.
Advice
Early sowings will usually produce plants which flower in the same and following years. Later sowings will flower for the first time the following summer. Caution: TOXIC to pets; harmful if eaten by humans.
