When to sow

January-April September-October

Where to sow

Soak the seeds in water overnight. Sow the following morning, 1cm deep, in small pots of compost, then water and leave in a cool room until sprouting. Pinch out the tips when 10cm tall. Keep in a bright place, minimum 15°C.

What to do next

Plant out from March, 20cm apart in the ground. Alternatively plant in large pots. You'll need canes to support the plants as they grow. You can also sow straight into the ground, 2cm deep, as the soil starts to warm up.

Remember

Keep them watered, especially in warm, dry weather. Pick flowers often for indoors; this will keep them flowering for longer!
