Sowing Indoors
Sow on the surface of a good seed compost and gently firm down. Do not cover the seeds as they require for light for germination. Place the seed tray in a propagator at a temperature of 18-24°C or seal it inside a polythene bag until after germination. which takes 2-4 weeks. Keep the soil damp, but not wet.
Transplanting
When plants are large enough to handle, transplant into 8cm pots and grow them on in cooler conditions.
Growing On
Gerbera can be grown on in a sunny windowsill indoors, or planted out in a patio pot once all danger of frost has passed, acclimatising slowly to outdoor conditions.
Aftercare
Keep the compost moist, but not waterlogged, at all times. Feed regularly during the flowering season. Remove spent flower stems.
