Sowing Indoors

Almost fill a seed tray with moist seed compost. Sow seeds thinly over the surface; do not cover with more compost but cover the tray with cling film or a clear lid until the seedlings appear. Place in the warmth and light, 20-25°C and keep moist.

Growing On

When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant into small (8cm) pots, or trays, of compost and grow on at 15-20°C until well-established.

Planting out

Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions for 2-3 weeks before planting from late April onwards, once the risk of frost has passed. Allow 25cm between plants.

Aftercare

Keep well-watered, especially during spells of warm weather. Feed regularly during the flowering season and remove spent flowers to encourage a longer display of colour.
