Unwins Alyssum Carpet of Snow Seeds produce masses of white flowers all summer long for good ground cover. This 'Sweet Alyssum' is ideal for flower beds and rockeries and also makes a beautiful edging for paths, flowering from June to September in most soils or positions.

This half-hardy annual is great for pollinators, attracting beneficial insects into your garden.

Sowing Indoors

Almost fill a seed tray with moist seed compost. Sow seeds thinly over the surface, and lightly cover them with a little more compost. Place in the warmth, 10-15°C and keep moist.

Growing On

Keep seedlings in a light position, but shade from direct sunlight. When large enough to handle, transplant 5cm apart into trays of potting compost.

Hardening Off/Planting Out

Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions for 2-3 weeks before planting out from late April onwards. Allow 15cm between plants.

Advice

Sweet Alyssum is attractive to a wide range of beneficial insects and so is useful planted near to your fruit and vegetable crops.
